Thanks to Tim Young ’76 for answering our survey! Here’s what he had to say:
Where was your favorite place to go in State College, why was this place so special to you?
Rec Hall on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons in the winter, and any Saturday or Sunday. Great hoops and racquetball games; and groups of Phi’s “ran” the basketball courts. Winners stayed, and the Phi’s held the court until it was time to leave. Friendships cemented on the courts of the Main Gym and South Halls. A great workout before a Saturday jammy.
What was your favorite event, tradition, or activity to partake in during your college years? Why was it so important to you? Do you still engage with that event, tradition, or activity?
Bowery Ball on Blue/White weekend. What a party, from Wednesday to sometime early Sunday morning.
As an alum, what do you see as the most valuable part of your PDT experience?
Learning to live with and get along with 50+ guys in a very competitive environment. It was a great place to learn, grow and experience college. And, yes, I could have added some stories that the Animal House writers would have enjoyed.

Retired now after a 40+ year career in corporate America in HR roles. Moved too many times if you listen to my PSU Theta wife, but lifelong friends developed at each stop. Living in Cincinnati (ugh, Buckeye country) and enjoying a little consulting work and a lot of whatever I want to do. Three good kids, all out on their own (yeah!) with one grandbaby. Hilary (we met in the Phi Delt basement party room) are still having fun.
