Why You Pledged PA Theta: When I arrived at Penn State, I hadn’t considered the option of joining a fraternity. Like many, I visited the house to attend parties and meet people, with no intention of actually pledging. I realized very quickly that there were a lot of interesting people who I genuinely enjoyed being around—smart guys in engineering, dummies like me, and everything in between. I had a blast getting to know everyone and having the opportunity to immediately expand my social circle.

Why You Loved the Experience: You always had a place to go, and you always had someone to hang out with. We supported each other socially, academically, and sometimes financially. Being at the house was exciting every day. You never knew who you’d run into, what condition they’d be in, and where the day might take you. It was an experience for which I am so grateful still to this day.

Favorite Memory: Way too many to count. I always tell the story about the guy I would see outside of Packer Hall freshman year. I didn’t know anything about him, but I knew I didn’t like him. It turned out that he was a brother at Phi Delt, and to this day, is one of my best friends. Circa 2008-09, there was a fire at the house and many had to seek alternative housing, temporarily. I was living off campus at the time near Snappy’s and our house became the unofficial gathering spot for all of Phi Delt, especially since we also became temporary home to house dog, Riggs. We fondly referred to our place as the “SuperDome.” We had some great times at the SuperDome.

Why You Got Involved on the Board: My core group of friends to this day are all brothers. After 16 years, it’s amazing to me that we manage to stay in touch, plan trips to visit each other, and are always communicating one way or another. I got involved because I’ve enjoyed the benefit of relationships formed at the fraternity. I want to help maintain that connection and provide the opportunity for those who have been “lost” to reconnect. We have a great organization with great people and I want the best for everyone involved.

Your Vision for the Future: At some point, I’d like to have a presence back on campus. I don’t know what that means or what it looks like, but it’s important that our organization continues to remain relevant and active. I would love nothing more than to see new generations of college students join the PA Theta legacy.
