Join Penn State’s New FSL Alumni Advisory Board and Help PA Theta Continue to Thrive

Coming off the heels of our biggest annual event to date—nearly 300 actives, alumni, family, and friends gathered this September to celebrate the strength and future of Pennsylvania Theta—we’re reminded just how powerful alumni involvement can be. The energy was undeniable. Our active chapter continues to thrive with more than 80 brothers (and more on the way after fall recruitment), national recognition as Phi Delta Theta’s top emerging chapter, and $34,000 raised for THON in its first full year back.

Now, Penn State is extending an invitation to alumni across all fraternities and sororities to help carry that momentum even further.

The University’s Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life (OFSL) has established a new Fraternity & Sorority Life Alumni Advisory Board, and they are calling for applications. This is an important opportunity for PA Theta alumni to step forward and have a direct hand in shaping the future of Greek Life at Penn State.

Why This Matters
The Board was created in response to feedback from an independent review of fraternity and sorority life on campus last year. One of the key recommendations was clear: rebuild trust with alumni and advisors, and give them a formal voice in shaping the community.

For us, this is a chance to serve Penn State and a way to bring back best practices, resources, and relationships that will help Pennsylvania Theta continue to live out its mission of being the best fraternity on campus, within Phi Delta Theta, and across the Greek nation!

The Role of the Board
The FSL Alumni Advisory Board will serve as a bridge between alumni, Penn State, and the OFSL. It is an advisory group only—its purpose is to give input, provide feedback, and help guide initiatives that promote growth, safety, and sustainability across the Greek community.

Key areas of focus may include housing, marketing and communications, safety and wellness, alumni volunteer development, and student outcomes. Sub-groups will be created around specific topics, allowing alumni to lend their expertise in the areas where they can make the biggest difference.

Board members will serve two-year terms and meet at least three times each year—once in the fall, spring, and summer—with some sub-group meetings in between. The Board will include 8–16 alumni, representing all four Greek councils at Penn State (IFC, MGC, NPHC, and PHC).

The Selection Process
Applications are open now. Alumni interested in serving should complete the interest form with the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life. Applications will be reviewed by OFSL staff and the undergraduate governing council presidents. Once established, the Board’s alumni co-chair will also play a role in the selection process.

The application deadline is Saturday, September 14.

Why PA Theta Alumni Should Apply
This is the first time Penn State has launched a board like this, and the University is looking for strong alumni leaders to set the tone. As one of the largest and most historic fraternities at Penn State, with a reputation for excellence both on campus and within Phi Delta Theta International, PA Theta alumni have a unique opportunity to make their mark.

Serving on this Board helps Penn State, sure. More importantly, though, it will give us an opportunity to strengthen our chapter in the process. By bringing back insight, influence, and new connections, we keep PA Theta positioned where it belongs: at the top.

Your Chance to Step Up
Our chapter has come back stronger than ever, and the eyes of the Greek community are on us. If you’ve been looking for a way to get more involved, this is it. Serving on the FSL Alumni Advisory Board gives you a seat at the table, a voice in the conversation, and a platform to make a lasting impact.

Applications are open until September 14. Don’t let this chance to represent Pennsylvania Theta and to strengthen our standing at Penn State pass by.

Together, we can carry forward the legacy of Pennsylvania Theta and ensure that Penn State’s fraternity and sorority community continues to thrive.
